Kusmana residence in Manhattan Beach coming along nicely. With Tryggvi Thorsteinsson, Mnmmod, Minarc
We have always had immense pride in the fact that we are constantly improving our city in part by adapting many of our old buildings and neighborhoods into contemporary cultural context. The Ripples night club is an amazing piece of Long Beach history and iconic as an epicenter for the gay culture of past. On a more personal note, its also where I met my wife almost 13 years ago, we attended dance classes next door and socialized there afterward. With this immense burden we have considered the adaption of this past into a more neighborhood connected, view oriented, extroverted and inclusive venue. This would be a remodel of the original structure with the resurrection of the kitchen service which the original building of the 1930's was created with. Thank you Martin Porter and other unnamed partners for allowing us to participate. ... See more

This is a recently completed remodel for Jennifer and Jordon Ryan in Torrance. Turned out great in large part due to their great design sense. Thanks to both of them for allowing us to work with them and for writing this gracious endorsement "I really appreciated everything everyone in your office has done in this whole remodel. We had such a good experience, no drama at all and stayed within budget and you all respected that. Fernando is the man! We love him. We have so many friends that have had nightmare stories, but not us. We love our house and want to live and die here! We plan on doing a comprehensive review on our experience. And if you ever want anyone to talk to us, visit our home whatever we'd be happy to do so. " ... See more

We are looking for new team members! Firm Website: https://www.ultra-unit.com Job Location: Long Beach, Ca. Ultra-Unit Architectural Studio is a dynamic, engaged architectural firm that embraces “crafted design” as a methodology. We value making physical models, prototyping furniture on our CNC machine, visualizing in 3d and see we all of these mediums as significant contributors to design within the office. We offer a unique environment to work and in contrast to large firms we offer a great variety of projects and the ability to align our staff by project rather than by task. As principal I am looking for team members who find good design to be stimulating, The kind of people that find it hard to sleep when a great idea is kicking around in their heads. We see ourselves as agents of change in the dynamically changing Long Beach arena and consider ourselves catalyst is this very localized phenomenon. We are prolific creators and makers of architecture who explore, and innovate, …. continuously. We would like to hire one or more persons who share our vision and who are preferably Long Beach locals with 3 – 5 years experience in an architectural firm, have at least 1 year of professional Revit use and a strong portfolio. Our current projects include multifamily, restaurants, custom homes and adaptive reuse commercial types. We are a small firm with big ideas and for the right candidate we offer authorship as an integral part of this rapidly growing firm. ... See more

These are a few shots of our recently completed 4th and Olive restaurant. This started out as an old mechanics shop and with owners Dan, Alex and Adams vision, we created this environment for them. One of the main mantra's of the restaurant is that they hire vets. We embraced this incredibly heartfelt and sincere effort on their part as a major design influence and used mending and stitching to bind these slabs of butcherblock walnut together. Wine holders were custom designed and fabricated in our shop and we intend to sell these as a completed panels. We still have some tweeks to do but if you have a chance try out their amazing food (pork chops are other worldly!!), wine and beer! ... See more
