COASTLINE CARWASH
3525 E. Anaheim St. Long Beach, Ca.

Coastline carwash is a modern self-serve carwash which features modern amenities as well as extensive green technologies for water reclamation and conservation, photovoltaic electric generation and water permeable driving surfaces. Programmatically the building is unique by offering bicycle / motorcycle cleaning areas, dog washing stations, and the first ever ‘frisky dog’ area for those post wash frenzies that our puppies are famous for.
This new facility focuses on conservation of both natural resources and labor by implementing a series self service assist functions and is replacing an existing carwash at the same location which has operated for more than 30 years.

Coastline Carwash was envisioned as a contemporary adaption of the car centric Googie architectural style made famous in the 1950’s. Like its precedent this facility is located on a major automotive thoroughfare and is conceptually developed as both industrial and motion swept in appearance. Exterior materials include Kynar finished metal panels intermixed with fiber cement which undulate and play off each other in a stark contrast of both texture and color.
This facility will use underground reclamation tanks to filter and then re-use more than 75% of all water usage. Additionally the more targeted use of water processes dramatically reduces to overall water consumption and combined with reclamation processes represents a 10 fold increase in water efficiency compared to the original facility. All site lighting is be LED with a large part of this powered by Photovoltaic panels on the roof of the carwash tunnel.
The building is intended to be a multipurpose platform in which to not only clean a car but also be host for car or motorcycle shows and outdoor gatherings of various sorts both of which are envisioned by the owner as creating significant marketing potential.
